  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 packet Active dry yeast
  • 1 cup Warm water
  • 2 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoon Unsalted butter melted
  • 1 unit Egg beaten, for egg wash

Instructions 

  1. 1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. 2. Add flour, salt, and melted butter to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. 3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. 4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. 5. Punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball for burger buns or a log for hot dog buns.
  6. 6. Place the shaped dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. 7. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the tops of the buns with the beaten egg.
  8. 8. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool on a wire rack.
