Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • ¾ cup buttermilk, cold

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Make a well in the center and pour in the cold buttermilk. Stir until just combined.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times.
  6. Pat the dough to about ½ inch thick and cut out biscuits using a round cutter.
  7. Place the biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, until golden brown.
