  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 large onions thinly sliced
  • 1 sheet puff pastry thawed
  • 1 cup gruyere cheese shredded
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are caramelized, about 20 minutes.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and fit it into a tart pan. Trim any excess pastry.
  4. Spread the caramelized onions evenly over the puff pastry. Sprinkle the shredded gruyere cheese on top.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven until the pastry is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly, about 20 minutes.
  6. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
