4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
6. Punch down the dough and divide it into three equal parts. Roll each part into a long rope and braid them together.
7. Place the braided dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
8. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the dough with the beaten egg.
9. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Let it cool on a wire rack before serving.
