Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 ¼ teaspoon active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg (for egg wash) beaten

Instructions

  1. 1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, honey, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. 2. Add vegetable oil, eggs, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
  3. 3. Gradually add flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a dough forms.
  4. 4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. 5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
  6. 6. Punch down the dough and divide it into three equal parts. Roll each part into a long rope and braid them together.
  7. 7. Place the braided dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. 8. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the dough with the beaten egg.
  9. 9. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Let it cool on a wire rack before serving.
