French Onion Soup
A classic French soup with caramelized onions, beef broth, and a cheesy crouton topping.

- 4 large onions thinly sliced
- 4 cups beef broth
- 2 tablespoon butter
- 1 cup gruyere cheese grated
- 1 baguette French bread sliced
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
1. Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat.
2. Add onions and cook until caramelized, about 25 minutes.
3. Add sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
4. Pour in beef broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
5. Preheat oven to broil.
6. Ladle soup into oven-safe bowls. Top with bread slices and grated cheese.
7. Broil until cheese is melted and bubbly, about 3-5 minutes.
