Fried Cornmeal Mush
A simple, hearty dish made from cornmeal, perfect for breakfast or a side dish.

Main Ingredients
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 4 cups water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoon butter
- to taste maple syrup or honey optional
Bring water and salt to a boil in a saucepan.
Gradually whisk in the cornmeal to avoid lumps.
Reduce heat and simmer, stirring frequently, until thickened, about 10 minutes.
Pour the mixture into a loaf pan and let it cool until firm.
Once firm, cut the mush into slices.
Heat butter in a frying pan over medium heat and fry the slices until golden brown on both sides.
Serve hot with maple syrup or honey if desired.
