Ingredients 

Scones

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup cold unsalted butter cut into small pieces
  • ½ cup chopped pecans toasted
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the chopped pecans.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together heavy cream, maple syrup, and vanilla extract.
  6. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  7. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently a few times. Pat into a circle about 1-inch thick. Cut into 8 wedges and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
