Nanaimo Bars Recipe
A classic Canadian dessert with layers of chocolate, custard, and coconut.

Base Layer
- ½ cup unsalted butter melted
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 5 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
- 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
Custard Layer
- ½ cup unsalted butter softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons vanilla custard powder
- 3 tablespoons milk
Top Layer
- 4 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chopped
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1. In a mixing bowl, combine melted butter, sugar, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract. Stir in coconut and graham cracker crumbs. Press mixture into the bottom of an ungreased 8x8 inch baking pan.
2. In another bowl, beat together softened butter, powdered sugar, custard powder, and milk until smooth. Spread over the base layer.
3. In a saucepan, melt chocolate and butter over low heat. Once melted, pour over the custard layer and spread evenly. Chill in the refrigerator until set.
