  • 1 cup Grits stone-ground
  • 4 cups Water
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese shredded
  • 2 tablespoon Butter
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • ½ teaspoon Black Pepper freshly ground

Instructions 

  1. Bring water to a boil in a saucepan.
  2. Slowly whisk in the grits and reduce heat to low.
  3. Cook, stirring frequently, until thickened, about 20-25 minutes.
  4. Stir in butter, cheese, salt, and pepper until melted and smooth.
  5. Serve hot.
