- 1 lb Dried brown beans rinsed and sorted
- 1 lb Ham hock
- 1 Onion chopped
- 2 cloves Garlic minced
- 6 cups Water
- 1 teaspoon Salt or to taste
- ½ teaspoon Black pepper or to taste
1. In a large pot, combine the beans, ham hock, onion, garlic, and water.
2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 2 hours, or until beans are tender.
3. Remove the ham hock, shred the meat, and return it to the pot.
4. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot.
